Pierre’s journey is the stuff of fly-fishing legend. Raised in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, he grew up casting, tying, fishing, and competing—obsessed from an early age with the pursuit of fish. What began as youthful fascination quickly evolved into global exploration, taking him from Africa’s wild rivers to the Amazon, Papua New Guinea, and remote Pacific reefs in search of the fiercest predators on the planet.

Pierre has fished and guided on nearly every continent, chasing species like Giant Trevally, Golden Dorado, and his all-time favorite, the Roosterfish. Along the way, he forged lasting bonds with local communities, gathered deep fly-tying knowledge, and built a toolkit of design experience unmatched in the predator fly space.

As a fly-tying instructor and gear specialist for top-tier international brands, Pierre brings technical excellence to every fly Megafin produces. He resides in Florida and oversees product design, materials, and training, and leads quality control for our tying team in Colombia.

Alejandro Carvajal Rico — Co-Founder & Operations Lead

A lifelong angler and third-generation fishing enthusiast, Alejandro has explored Colombia’s wildest waters in pursuit of native gamefish. With a background in business administration and sustainable entrepreneurship, he brings sharp organizational vision and deep local insight to Megafin’s operations. Alejandro leads all aspects of administration, finance, and logistics, ensuring the company runs as smoothly as the rivers he grew up fishing.

His roots in Colombia’s fishing tradition, combined with a strong belief in ethical, community-driven business, help power Megafin’s mission to create year-round employment in coastal and jungle communities.
